A shopping centre based in the centre of Buxton will be invaded by an artistic group of unique mannequins over the coming weeks, to help raise funds for a local charity.
Beginning in April, visitors to The Springs Shopping Centre can expect to see a number of creative mannequins inside the centre, as part of the new Mannequin Festival. Retailers and local businesses alike will be showcasing their artistic flair by sponsoring a mannequin each.
Carlon Stewart, centre manager, said: “To begin our yearlong partnership with Blythe House Hospice, we wanted to bring something creative and new to The Springs.”
“Mannequins are a regular part of the retail world, but we aimed to add a unique, creative twist on the long-serving member of retail.”
All proceeds raised from the mannequin festival are being donated to Blythe House Hospice, The Springs’ charity of the year as voted for by the local community. As well as designing their own mannequin, Blythe House will be hosting the auction towards the end of the campaign.
Lucy Marsden, fundraising and communications manager at Blythe House Hospice, added: “We’re really looking forward to working with The Springs and the mannequin festival will be a brilliant way to mark the beginning of a 12-month partnership.”
“Imaginative campaigns like these really help raise the profile of our team and services, whilst creating distinctive pieces of art for the local community to enjoy.”
Local businesses have also been invited to also add their artistic input into the mannequin festival. Mannequins will be offered to any businesses in the Buxton area in return for a donation to Blythe House.
