The Springs Shopping Centre, which has been at the heart of community life in Buxton for 35 years this month, is encouraging local people to share community updates relating to COVID-19 in a bid to help keep local people informed.
Whilst only a handful of essential shops remain open at The Springs Shopping Centre, in light of the government’s response to COVID-19, the centre is keen to share as much information as possible with the wider community on support available to them.
Those stores which remain open are as follows: Waitrose, Superdrug, Holland and Barrett, Grapetree, Nationwide, Boots Opticians, Vision Express and Specsavers (emergency appointments pre-booked only).
Colin Beswick, Assistant Centre Manager, said: “We understand many of our regular shoppers will be missing their visits to the centre, where they regularly stop for a chat with fellow Buxtonians – for many it provides a real lifeline.
“At this time, it’s vital the community works together to provide support and ensure the most vulnerable members of our community can access the services they need.
“We are working closely with those essential retailers which remain open within The Springs Shopping Centre to ensure shoppers’ experiences run as smoothly as possible in line with government guidelines.
“Above and beyond this, we are keen to share as much information as possible about community support groups working together to support local people during COVID-19, therefore I would encourage anyone with information relating to this to share the information with us so we can share it to our online audiences where relevant.”
