A popular Buxton-based shopping centre is asking visitors to help nominate a local charity for it to pledge support to as part of its ‘2017 Charity of the Year’ campaign.
The Springs Shopping Centre wants to hear from people in the community about local charities that are important them and believe would benefit the most from the partnership.
Last year, The Springs pledged support to Blythe House Hospice, which provides daytime services for people living in and around the High Peak area who are affected by life-threatening illnesses or bereavement.
This year, the shopping centre is aiming to support a smaller local charity which may not otherwise receive the exposure and assistance otherwise. Carlon Stewart, centre manager of The Springs explains:
“This year we will again be asking the public to help us choose our nominated charity in order to pick a worthy cause which matters to people in the area.
“The nominated charity is integrated into a lot of our campaign and event activity for the year, which helps attract publicity and raise vital funds. It is an opportunity very few organisations in the area will get to promote their cause and we think it would be great for a smaller charity to be put forward this year.”
“We think it is important this year that the winner is a cause that is close to local people’s hearts. In the past, we have helped out local charities by promoting the good work they do, by setting up stalls in the centre and raising awareness through our social media channels. Through becoming our partner charity for the year, the organisation will be involved in many fundraising opportunities and receive a lot of positive exposure.”
The charity of the year will be selected from voting held in the centre and online via The Springs social media channels. Voting will commence from Wednesday 15th February and
close in early March.
