The Springs Shopping Centre will be bringing back the popular back to school event in August, drawing on the success of last year’s event. A number of local businesses and organisations are attending to help encourage a healthy and sustainable lifestyle for local families attending.
Returning to the centre, Derbyshire County Council will be speaking to families, who can find out whether they are eligible for free school meals, potentially saving them thousands of pounds. On top of this, Buxton Swimming & Fitness Centre is attending for the first time to discuss local classes available to all ages looking to stay fit and healthy.
Currently, hundreds of families in Buxton are unaware that, due to income or a range of social factors, they are entitled to free school meals for the entire school year. The Springs has supported this campaign, created by Derbyshire County Council, over the past two years running in a bid to encourage more families to sign up for the service.
Representatives from both organisations will be on hand to discuss Spring Back Into School event in The Springs Shopping Centre on August 19th.
The event will also include free shoe fittings with Clarks, Decopatch demonstrations with Ryman Stationery, huge discounts and plenty of freebies with Specsavers, arts and crafts activities for the children, as well as discounted school coats from Trespass.
Carlon Stewart, The Springs Shopping Centre manager, said: “Having Derbyshire County Council back at our back to school event is vital as it continues to raise awareness about something that could potentially save Buxton families a lot of money over the year.
“We continue to look at ways to improve our events for visitors in a way that benefits the local area to ensure that we are not only a retail destination, but also a community hub.
“We’re delighted to be able to welcome back the back to school event on August 19th to provide parents with a place to once again fully prepare their children and themselves for school”
